We must work to ensure that veterans have the proper resources to return to civilian life and contribute to their local community. After serving in Iraq in 2008 and currently serving as a Major in the Army Reserve, I know firsthand what it is like to return from overseas. Being a citizen soldier has made me a more effective citizen legislator.

As a legislator, I helped create a program to assist unemployed veterans find work. Every year, hundreds of servicemen and women are assigned to duty stations across the state. I championed legislation that provides licensing reciprocity to service member’s spouses so that when their family moves to Wisconsin, their spouses can immediately pursue their own career as a teacher, cosmetologist, or plumber.

I will continue to assist our veterans by breaking down walls that limit opportunities for themselves and their families.
