Throughout my time in the State Assembly, I have been an advocate for common sense solutions that allow individuals and their doctors to be at the center of health care decisions. I have supported funding for SeniorCare, a program which helps our seniors with the cost of their prescription drugs; protecting a patient’s right to try; and ratification of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, which increases access to health care for patients in underserved and rural areas.
In an effort to protect children across our state, I proudly authored legislation to create Safe Families in Wisconsin. This law provides alternatives to parents who need to temporarily place their child with another person or family due to financial, emotional, or substance abuse problems. The program has kept hundreds of kids out of the foster care system and the legislation has been adopted by 22 other states.
